that Ryan will probably be one of the first ones off the bench,
when and if Trump backs out or is forced out......
I am obviously conjecturing, however I sure would rather face Trump than Ryan in November...
What da ya think?

(23,102 posts)He's way too arrogant for that. I'd bet he's counting on his pal, Putin, to hack the machines and give him the victory. I'd love it if he were forced out, but just can't see the repugs doing that. They are too scared of the monster they created.

(4,734 posts)This is all an attempt for attention. The media will breathlessly cover the speech tonight and give him headlines of "unity" going into the weekend.
Ryan will win his election and Trump will claim he helped.

(916 posts)Whenever I'm trying to figure out why Trump is doing something (anything), I just ask myself: How does this benefit Trump in his own mind? It may or may not benefit him in reality, but if Trump perceives a benefit to himself in any situation, that's what motivates him. Always rings true to me.
Why is Trump endorsing Ryan tonight? I think it's so he can be on the teevee, simultaneously endorsing and humiliating Paul Ryan. Win. Win. Win. (So much winning.)

(2,062 posts)Well what many are not thinking about is...ok so what if trump is pushed out, is it not past the time when legally and officially one can get on the ballot in all 50 states?
Both the Republicans and the Democrats have rules which allow their national committees to substitute in a new candidate if need be. Trump can't be "pushed out" but he could withdraw. The last time a nominated candidate withdrew was in 1972 when Senator Eagleton withdrew as the Democratic VP candidate under pressure from Democrats because he had committed the high crime of seeking mental therapy at one point in his life.
