Teenage boy executed in Iran for gay sex

A teenage student has been executed in Iran for anal sex with another boy, Amnesty International has revealed.

Hassan Afshar was convicted of rape. But Amnesty says it may have been a case of consensual gay sex.

Afshar, 19, was hanged in Arak Prison in Markazi Province on 18 July, after being convicted of “lavat-e be onf” (forced male-to-male anal intercourse).

Afshar was arrested in December 2014 after the authorities were told by parents of the other boy that he had raped their son.

They also accused two other youths of forcing the teenage boy to have sex, alongside Afshar.

Afshar says the sexual acts were consensual and the other teen had willingly engaged in same-sex sexual activities before.

In Iran, men and boys who engage in same-sex anal intercourse face different punishments depending on whether they’re the ‘top’ or ‘bottom’ partners.

Courts also consider whether their conduct is consensual or non-consensual.

If consensual, the ‘passive’ partner faces a death sentence. The ‘active’ man in consensual sex is sentenced to death only if he is married or if he is not a Muslim and the ‘passive’ partner is a Muslim.

Because he is Gay.

A Medieval, backward, hateful culture.

Thankfully, the laws of the state keep them in check in civilized countries nowadays.

Not the case here where the inmates run the asylum.

Because it was against their religion?

Killing a boy for being Gay disqualifies any country from sitting at the table of the civilized .

Imagine one of our LGBT members getting arrested by police, tried in court, and sentenced to death by our legal system.

We certainly have racists, bigots, and other rather nasty people, but we don't an official death penalty for being gay in our legal system. That currently only happens in Islamic countries. It does not happen in any country with a religion other then Islam.

77 countries make being gay illegal, 12 of those have a death penalty for being gay, and all 12 are Islamic countries.

We aren't doing ourselves any favors (and we're outright insulting the memory of the victims) when we pretend that their killers are just fringe extremists who don't understand their own faith.

That this even still occurs is beyond reprehensible. Perhaps it is because Iran was "bullied" by the West and that is why they feel the need to murder gay people?! ( because of another recent, bullshit laden story). What I don't know and have always wondered, is do these laws apply to oral sex? I always see references to anal sex and "gay" sex is much more than just "fucking". I am very serious in that I have looked and haven't really been able to find anything other than anecdotes. Does anyone know if it is any homosexual act or just acts which involve anal intercourse?

I also noted how the "victim" may not really be a victim but decided to claim that status in order to avoid death. That is another issue which is deeply troubling.
