My wife and I had breakfast in the hotel and then left our luggage with the hotel staff. Peggy and Lionel Mandrake picked us up, and drove us to their wonderful house. We got the VIP tour and a small concert on the piano (LM is quite the accomplished player). I should have brought my 12 string guitar, but it was already checked. We then went out for a great Mexican lunch, and then back to their house where we talked about life in Germany, life in southern California and just about everyone we both know/knew on DU. Peggy has met quite a few DUers. I have met practically none, but now I have the lowdown on all of you. I autographed my book for Peggy, and she gave me one of hers.
Peggy then drove us back to our hotel where we retrieved our stuff (and I forgot a bag full of fresh cherries, oatmeal orange cranberry cookies and fudge brownies I had brought from a small bakery in Cape Cod last Saturday ).
We could have spent another week in nonstop conversation and not gotten bored or covered a single subject twice!
Next year!
(And Peggy--remember, they DO have nonstops now from LAX to Düsseldorf!!)

(149,683 posts)What a perfect synopsis! I loved every minute of our nonstop conversation, and I know we could have gone on for quite some time without boredom or repetition!
I'm really sorry about your bag..........perhaps you left it at your hotel? I know you had it when you got out of my car.
Lionel Mandrake is busy reading.......and enjoying! I will get to it later........
Next year would be good, just not in late August, since that's when the eclipse happens!
I hope the rest of your trip will be good........
to your lovely wife!
