Why don't they wait until AFTER the election, and then give the winner security briefings

There are around 10 weeks weeks between the election and inauguration. I know the President Elect has a lot going on, but it just seems a much smarter (and safer) routine and things would be much fresher.

And what are the consequences if a candidate leaks anything they learned, during the briefing? I would hope they have to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Given Trumps absolute lack of ethics and morals, this whole briefing issue really freaks me out.

The candidate who wins has most of November, all of December, and most of January to get that information because even if something happened to the sitting President, the sitting Vice President would be stepping in, for the duration.

Unfortunately for us Californians, we'll be no Boxer all too soon.

A Dem champion, Sen. Barbara Boxer, will retire this year.

Roosevelt only spoke three times to Truman from the time they were elected until his death. His death was not sudden at all. He knew he was dying and those close to him knew it also. At the Yalta conference with Churchill and Stalin in February, 1945 Roosevelt could barely speak or keep himself awake. Roosevelt kept Truman in the dark about everything. Truman instituted the candidate briefings because did not want anyone to go through what he did.

He suddenly found himself in the presidency, and was a bit unprepared.

He decided that presidential candidates should get briefings so they are better prepared when one of them wins the election.

Truman was DROPPED into the Presidency. No real warning. No time to prepare. There is time after the election, so it really makes no sense, to me, that they are giving security briefings to someone who will soon be back to being a private citizen, and maybe a very angry private citizen with information they can use.

They tell dipshit that the fbi will be arresting Paul Manafort in 2 days. He'd have to sit on that info for I'm sure what would seem to him a eternity. Or he would be divulging secret info.

I doubt he has a patriotic cell in his entire body. The only thing he is dedicated to serving and saving is his own brand.
