That was the only group he had some of, and those have supported him *because* of his saying those things!1 This must be Kellyanne Fitzpatrick CONWAY's writing, being read (under duress) by DRUMPF. For the moment. So is he going to be reading canned words for the next 90 days? It will finish off his core supporters!1
The devil on his other shoulder, the jerk from Breitbart, wants DRUMPF on gasoline fire, so how is this going to work? Here's to SNL with DRUMPF arguing with himself.

Trump says he regrets past remarks that 'caused personal pain
Donald Trump expressed regret on Thursday for remarks that "may have caused personal pain" as he sought to refocus his message in the face of falling opinion poll numbers in his first speech since a shake-up in his campaign this week.
"Sometimes, in the heat of debate and speaking on a multitude of issues, you dont choose the right words or you say the wrong thing," the Republican presidential nominee told a crowd in Charlotte, North Carolina. "I have done that, and I regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain. Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues." ....

(15,805 posts)A half-hearted imitation of a poor apology, followed by a hollow non sequitur.
And this is what passes for sincerity in Trumpland.

(82,849 posts)Doesn't say what he regrets. From the sound of it, he regrets that he has to keep explaining his rude, hurtful remarks. An apology is particular (I'm sorry I said X), addressed to the target audience (I'm sorry I said X about the Ys), and if they'll sit still for it, done in person (I'm sorry I said X about you, it was wrong and hurtful, and I hope you can forgive me some day).
As it is, Trump's only sorry he can't whisk this behind himself, like a rank fart.
