The Govenor of Louisiana wants the President to wait at least

A few weeks before going to flooded areas He said he feels that a visit will take away too many first responders from needed services for the already displaced. Don Lemon is on CNN saying the President needs to go there immediately. He used no fore thought like the Governor did. Now we hear that Drumpf is on his way there. The people do not need that disruption!

I was truly baffled by Don Lemon's attitude, esp calling it Obama's Katrina moment. Say what? Hekate Aug 2016 #11

President Obama will direct FEMA and any other federal resources to assist Louisiana. He should make public statements confirming the US Government's commitment to helping the distressed.

But he should not go there. The logistics of a presidential visit are profound and would severely tax the local law enforcement, fire departments and medical resources. During this emergency, the areas affected shouldn't be distracted by the president's entourage.

But I suspect that President Obama already knows this.

both FEMA and Homeland have been there from the beginning. Even the Gen in command of the National Guard was there.

There is a lot of federal help is going out there already.

Having the Pres visit would be a huge distraction from the needed work.

He's probably going to a high and dry white suburb 40 miles away and the msm will report he was there.

The governor came on MSNBC and gave a comprehensive overview of how much and in what ways the federal government is helping his state. He spoke to the president within hours of the disaster starting, the head of FEMA is there (once again a professional organization), and the gov and Valerie Jarrett talk once a day.

When Biden made his visit for the memorial service, before the floods, the freeway had to be cleared and 3,000 people were deployed for security etc. Those 3,000 folks are needed right now as first responders.

Don Lemon deserves a rap on the knuckles -- and he should apologize on air.
