Trump regrets saying 'the wrong thing'

Charlotte, North Carolina (CNN)Donald Trump on Thursday shelved his guiding mantra -- never back down, never apologize -- and did what he has refused to do in public in more than a year of campaigning. He expressed regret.

Trump, reading from prepared remarks Thursday night, acknowledged that he sometimes says "the wrong thing" in an astonishing act of contrition that signaled Trump's willingness to break from his characteristic brashness and bare-knuckles style that carried him to victory in the Republican primaries, but risks dooming him in the general election.

"Sometimes, in the heat of debate and speaking on a multitude of issues, you don't choose the right words or you say the wrong thing. I have done that. And believe it or not, I regret it. And I do regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain. Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues," Trump told supporters here.

He added: "But one thing I can promise you is this: I will always tell you the truth."

This is pretty close to the old "I sincerely regret if any thin-skinned people got their feelings hurt by what I said."

He most certainly didn't express any regret for his positions, only for his wording.

Is there really a nice way to say that he wants to deport anybody that he isn't comfortable around?

Is there really a nice way to say that Hillary and Barack were the founders of ISIL?

his arms are twisted behind his back and they will be "broken" unless he tows the line. He must be blowing up inside.

" But one thing I can promise you is this: I will always tell you the truth. "

Will media hold him to these words ? I do not think Don " the duck " ever said when this would start ........

Without reading speech I would have to assume don had a lie within 1 to 2 sentences

BTW, the nick-name Teflon Don is more appropriate as all of his media/ criminal and civil slime slides away, like water off of a duck's back. But, how can he change his natural expressions and personality?

Their heads are full of Fox/Rush/Breitbart garbage, and everything they believe is backwards, wrong, and well, idiotic.
