And this happened after Trump's FL campaign told him, as he recounts, that Trump didn't need black voters to win:

(43,049 posts)Can the Trump people just order the SS to throw out people they don't like? Or was something else going on?
Anyway-- "We don't need black votes..." Fine, you're getting even less of them now.

(62,276 posts)...the SS isn't going to sit around and do credentials checks or check your LinkedIn, they're going to kindly take you off the premises.
As far as the SS was concerned he was someone claiming to be the chair of the Black Republican Caucus and no one would vouch for him therefore even if he was, he didn't belong or wasn't wanted.

No credentials, sorry, you aren't allowed to be here.
Looks like a young guy trying to become someone important in Republican circles by piggybacking onto the Trump campaign and as one of the few Black Trump supporters garner some media attention for himself.

(62,276 posts)It's likely they viewed him as hostile just by the nature of his caucus and didn't even bother to check who he was.
Outreach fail by the campaign for sure.

(23,973 posts)One would think the Trump campaign would jump all over bringing on a young, Black pro-Trump Republican in a heartbeat.
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)He'd be an unknown variable. He obviously tried to jump a few ladders and just show up, as opposed to going through proper channels.
But they should've still said "hey, let me verify you, contact this person or that person, and we'll see what's up, but you have to understand we don't know you so you're not going to just get automatic status as representing a bloc of people here."
For all they knew he was trying to stir some shit up and being young and new to politics he may not have inviting body language.
There's obviously more to it than either side is telling, but I think the guy was legit and I think Trump's people handled it wrongly.

(108,980 posts)Jackson's critiques come after news broke that Giorno refused to let Jackson stay backstage at a recent Florida rally and then, according to Jackson, told him flat-out that Trump didn't need black votes.
"The crazy part about it is that the Secret Service had already cleared me to be back there, and yet she made a scene and claimed that she didn't know who I was," Jackson says.
But Jackson says the problems with minority outreach inside Trump's Florida operation go much deeper than just one misstep by Giorno at a rally.
The West Palm Beach native says he had hoped to use his position to help Trump avoid Mitt Romney's missteps in 2012; Jackson thinks Romney started much too late in reaching out to black voters. Jackson says that he believes African-Americans are ready to leave the Democratic Party but that they need a sustained outreach effort.

(15,262 posts)It was the black vote in Cuyahoga County Ohio in 2004, like Florida 2000, when caging the black vote was essential to Bush squeaking close enough to Gore to keep the election in play. Racist election fraud made Bush President.

The irony is there was a time when many Americans "didn't need" the people with last names like Giorno either.

(53,788 posts)If they think there are enough bigoted, right wing whites to win the presidency they have very short memories.
Romney and McCain both failed because they lost the POC vote, badly.
Now they're actively turning away black voters unbelievable.
But wait, maybe they have a point in this particular case. This guy has to be a little suspect to be cozying up to Trump's campaign. It's pretty well known that that campaign has its share of white racists.
