Did anybody hear Trump say he was "sorry" for his prior remarks?

Headline in Arkansas Democrat Gazette reads, "In shift, Trump says sorry for early insults". I heard him say, "I regret it."

1. I heard Hillary actually apologize for the emails

But apparently that wasn't good enough.

Trump doesn't apologize and it is dutifully reported that he did.

2. My take was that he regretted the words he used, but not necessarily the message.

The closes to "sorry" seems to be him claiming to regret causing some people personal pain. I don't believe he regrets anything. I think his kids are back in charge, and they pushed him to make that statement.

“Sometimes, in the heat of debate and speaking on a multitude of issues, you don’t choose the right words, or you say the wrong thing,” he said at a rally in North Carolina. “I have done that, and I regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain. Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues.”
