Rio 2016: OK, Race Walking just looks weird

Watching the Women's 20-k race.

The rules are that one foot has to always be in contact with the ground (if both feet are off the ground, you're running, not walking), and your leading leg needs to be straight when it hits the ground until it passes under the body.

The judges look at your form, and if you are breaking the rules, you get a red card. Three cards and you're disqualified.

The contortions these walkers go through to walk at such a fast pace look very uncomfortable.

for men has been an Olympic event since 1908 and for women since 1992 so alot of people have seen the events for quite a while before 2016.
