No fumes.
They also use electric motorcycles at the Tour de France and other long distance bicycling events.

Easy to spot, with the cylinders sticking out sideways. And a camera operator sitting behind the driver.
Gasoline-engines.

I do know the motorcycle almost always used for this purpose by camera crews as it's one I owned when I could still ride - the Honda ST1300. Warmed up and at the low RPM they are typically holding at at such relatively low speeds, the fumes will be very light. Because of the advanced fuel management system of that particular bike, one built to be capable of smooth all day long distance riding, there are nowhere near the particulates you would see from your typical Harley or even crotch rocket.

See slide 2 on this page for a Tour de France example
