I am so glad that it is Obama in charge. The death toll is at 13. The damage huge, yet FEMA's response awesome.

1. The press has had it's prorities mixed up for a long time now.

And as much as people like to say they see through it, they are actually influenced by it to some degree.

Trivial matters lead while important matters get buried. That sadly seems to be a pattern in the media now days.

13. Two reasons that I can think of.

The first is the lack of coverage. The media tells us what to think about, and the media is telling us to think about other things. Plus, there doesn't seem to be anyone to get really mad at, which leads into my second thought...

...since I think there's still a few DUers left that don't have me on ignore yet, human life isn't that important to most people. We care about factions. Evil, stupid Republicans versus saintly, intelligent Democrats is what we like. There's an election going on, and that's entertainment. Not only is it a bit absurd, but we get to feel so good about ourselves for not being like those other people in that other faction. I know I like to play, but my factions are a little different, but with lots of overlap.

Just kidding. We all deeply value human life. It's not like we'd be talking on and on about a gorilla getting killed for dragging around a child, or some dentist shooting a lion. Human life is the bee's knees.

This time, there is a President who is competent and compassionate, a Dem Governor who is responsive, and a FEMA that operates as it should.

And those who continue to post crap about the primaries do NOT belong on DU. Perhaps not even on the same planet ... they certainly do not seem to understand what the real issues are.
