(53,339 posts)Most of us would prefer to judge President Hillary Clinton on what she does after taking office.
I can't help questioning an opinion piece seeking to undermine her at this point.

Nice advance jab at Clinton
And the primary continues...

SticksnStones
(2,108 posts)Of the damning by imagining what she will do or has done for which there is no proof. Just people supposing.
This article doesn't veer that far off from what republicans do to the Clintons all the time: accusing them of being about to do something.
Criticize her actual actions when they actually occur. That's valid. Clinton has stated clearly on multiple occasions that she will not support TPP in its current state. But again, respectfully, enough with the guilt by "could-have, might-just, maybe-will".
It's a technique that when employed by republicans lacks any nuance, or ability to imagine governance that isn't inherently corrupted.
And IMO, when employed by our side, it works against the stated purpose of this season, which is to get democrats elected.
Peace ~

(6,991 posts)Are unfortunately still fighting in the primaries. There was only one winner, and that was Hillary Clinton. Bernie Sanders fought hard, and valiantly but it didn't happen for him.
We have a nominee whose going up against tRump and his Neo-Nazi buddy named Bannon and her name is Hillary Clinton.
End of story.

(68,868 posts)Back when Newt Gingrich was relevant.
Which is ancient freaking history.
Ken Salazar got elected to the Senate in 2004, after Gingrich had resigned and well after NAFTA had passed. Donilon has never been in Congress.
Unclear where he got this nonsense.

(68,868 posts)Black added: And on the economic side, they were all in favor of austerity. All in favor of privatization. Tried to do a deal with Newt Gingrich to privatize Social Security. And of course, were all in favor of things like NAFTA.
He's talking about the Newt Gingrich era in Congress. Stuck in the past. What he's talking about has zero relevance to people like Jennifer Granholm.

Black hasn't figured out that this isn't the 1990s, and that Bill Clinton isn't on the ballot, and that the DLC no longer exists, and that Newt Gingrich is no longer relevant.

(26,001 posts)The best we could say is that we might hope the implications of this transition team aren't what they currently seem.
But given some of the track records of the appointees, that hope for change is the best we have, for now.
You can't know either, what this really means, until the points in the article are either confirmed, or allayed.

(42,411 posts)Blacks assessment of Salazar, Podesta and the transition teams four co-chairs is withering. These arent just DNC regulars, Democratic National Committee regulars, he said in an interview with The Real News Network. What youre seeing is complete domination by what used to be the Democratic Leadership Council. So this was a group we talked about in the past. Very, very, very right-wing on foreign policy, what they called a muscular foreign policy, which was a euphemism for invading places. And very, very tough on crime this was that era of mass incarceration that Bill Clinton pushed, and its when Hillary was talking about black superpredators, this myth, this so dangerous myth.
