A pollster called me a few weeks ago
Just one question - did you vote in the last Presidential elections? Yes, I replied. Thank you, he said, this is a recorded line will you be willing to answer future calls? Yes, I replied.
So last week, I think, he called again. Do you think the state or the Federal government is better for you? Instinctively I replied the Federal government. Later I remembered Ike, Kennedy, perhaps even Johnson, sending Federal troops to Little Rock, and Mississippi and Alabama. And I know how many states make it impossible for women to get legal abortion, and how many states make it hard for minorities to vote. And how many states still have so many uninsured residents because they would not sign for the ACA, so I was satisfied with my reply.
And today "Nate" called again. Was going to have two more questions but first thanked my for my earlier answers, again, on a recorded line. And went on to explain who they are: they believe that citizens should not be afraid of government; that government should be afraid of citizens. I had one walking shoe on, holding to the second ready to go out, and just ended the call.
