A prominent Atlanta attorney says he accidentally shot his executive wife in the back when a gun in his lap fired after their car hit a speed bump.
Claud "Tex" McIver was in the back seat when he says his .38 snub-nose revolver went off, wounding his wife Diane who was seated in the front passenger seat. She died in surgery several hours later at Emory University Hospital last Monday. She was 63.
McIver says he and his wife were being driven home by Diane's best friend when their Ford Explorer was approached by several individuals during a week in which there were many Black Lives Matter protests in the area, according to Bill Crane, a McIver family friend, who spoke to the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday.
Fearing they were about to be carjacked, McIver pulled out his gun from the center console as a precaution. McIver was falling asleep with the gun in his lap and has no recollection of pulling the trigger, Crane told the newspaper.

A: There weren't any Black Lives Matters activists protesting in the area where he shot his wife.
B: He's not rotting jail right now
White privilege, everybody.

mythology
(9,527 posts)And not say the world's worst divorce filing. I find it rather odd that somebody else was driving and he got the gun in the backseat and then fell asleep while he was so bravely standing guard to protect them from the roving bands of (imaginary) black people.

He actually said he went to sleep with the gun in his lap and doesn't remember pulling the trigger?
Good one.
Again, I'd check the relationship between him and the driver.

Let's pretend a moment this story is true.
One...he's a fucking racist asshole
Two he's such a sad sack he held his gun until he fell asleep as opposed to putting it back in its storage place because
Three he's a fucking misogynist and didn't trust a woman with his gun!
So IF his story is true he was sou afraid of the black man that he had to protect his women from can jacking and then fell asleep with a loaded weapon in his hands.
I can actually see that scenario.he woke up and jerked his finger. Spasms happen.
It still paints him in a very bad light, and neglective of a loaded deadly weapon!
But yeah, it's total bullshit.
He shot his wife.

(53,339 posts)By the time I finished watching the shocking, horrible news about the incredibly violent BLM peaceful protest on Fox News I was screwed.
Thanks, BLM! I would have beaten the illegal weapon, terrorist threats, spousal abuse, and aggravated assault charges if it weren't for you!
