An actual LTTE in a local newspaper this week:
Inside Washington game must end
The United States government
and public schools together are
trying to destroy the morals of
the families in the United States by
systematically using a dependency
on the welfare system to break up
families. So, I as a Christian, will
be voting for Donald Trump and
Mike Pence, who are not insiders
in the corrupt United States
government.
I have a good feeling about
Trump and Pence wanting to bring
back Christian values to the United
States. So Christians make sure
you vote for the candidate that you
believe is the most Christian.
XXXXX,
XXXXX
Where do you begin? Christian values? Trump?
If this wasn't so common among voters around here, this would have brought on a good belly laugh.

(2,073 posts)I urge you to write your own LTTE to counteract this nonsense.
On the great boogeyman called "the welfare system," I would talk about corporate welfare, in the form of subsidies and tax loopholes, which costs taxpayers FAR more than social safety net programs that help the poor.

And "Christian values." Give me a break. You can list thousands of instances of both Trump and Pence talking and behaving in ways that are completely opposite of the teachings of Jesus Christ.
