"Older than dirt", feedback sought

I frequent another forum. A poster there, possibly quite young, said that George Clooney was "older than dirt".

#1- Mr. Clooney is 55 and, imo, hardly "older than dirt"

and

#2- "Older than dirt" seems vaguely ageist ? Feedback sought.

I'm 69. My brother, who was 4 years older than me, dropped dead at age 57. Clooney might be older than dirt, but he's also richer than god.
