OK, DU English majors and brainiacs, here ya' go.
Miz t. walked in a few minutes ago with a pot in her hand.
She's making some deviled eggs for a neighborhood get together tomorrow.
In the pot were 4 white eggs and two brown ones.
"What's the difference in these eggs?"
"Well, two are brown, and four are white. Obviously."
"Yes, but ON THE INSIDE THEY'RE EXACTLY ALIKE.
On the inside they LOOK the same, they TASTE the same.
They. Are. The. Same. PERIOD"
Dang.
She ain't just a pretty face and a damn good cook.
So...parable, metaphor, or analogy?

(63,912 posts)It can't be a metaphor or an analogy because it doesn't compare one thing to another.

(3,447 posts)There is no metaphrand for a presumed metaphier to act upon (as it is intended to be conjured by the listener's own mind), and there is no story to qualify it as a parable.
It is a partial correspondence analogy, definition 2 under 'analogy', Google.
I guess I fail the humor test though.
