Letterman said hes surprised that Trumps presidential campaign has been so successful, but theres one moment that he thinks should have disqualified the real estate developer and former reality TV star.
I can remember him doing an impression, behind a podium, of a reporter for the New York Times who has a congenital disorder, and then I thought, if this was somebody else if this was a member of your family or a next-door neighbor, a guy at work you would immediately distance yourself from that person, Letterman said. And thats what I thought would happen. Because if you can do that in a national forum, that says to me that you are a damaged human being. If you can do that, and not apologize, youre a person to be shunned.
If I had a show, I would have gone right after him, Letterman said. I would have said something like, Hey, nice to see you. Now, let me ask you: What gives you the right to make fun of a human who is less fortunate, physically, than you are?'
I dont know anything about politics, Letterman said. I dont know anything about trade agreements. I dont know anything about China devaluing the yuan. But if you see somebody whos not behaving like any other human youve known, that means something. They need an appointment with a psychiatrist. They need a diagnosis and they need a prescription.

(12,605 posts)he did not know the man was handicapped.
If Trump can't blame every thing on somebody else, his next refuge is to plead no knowledge about it. Considering he thinks he knows everything about everything, that's a pretty big lie.

(6,941 posts)My opposition to DT is philosophical and political---we disagree on everything.
But his mocking of a disabled person made it personal for millions of disabled people and me personally. David's comments strike a chord with every decent human being.

(20,998 posts)Absolutely astounding. His candidacy bears witness to the fact that a good portion of the American electorate is stupendously stupid and/or JUST AS DAMAGED AS HE IS.
I, for one, will not allow Randall Flagg to be elected POTUS.

(49,533 posts)He honestly believes that some people have "superior" genes. He's said it on multiple occasions. One hesitates to go full Godwin, but it's perfectly appropriate here because that's exactly the shit that the Nazis embraced - that certain people (races) are superior to others and they must be allowed to propagate the species while all the "lesser" individuals are eliminated.

(11,582 posts)Watching Trump for any length of time is like observing a case study in abnormal psychology. How many innocent lives has he destroyed with his pathology (the fraud, the abuse, the breaching of contracts, the trafficking...)? Imagining him in the Oval Office is nothing short of a doomsday scenario!

(442 posts)the core GOP strong holds support him except current members of Congress running for re-election who fear for themselves. Today, Evangelicals came out and opposed him, as did others in the days leavening up to today: former GOP members, all former GOP presidents and their families oppose him, daughters of his rabid supports oppose him, major publications oppose him, including typically GOP based publications, etc, etc etc. I've question for months how people of faith can support such a candidate, and with today's news there should be nowhere to hide for the far right. They even said that casting a vote because of the Supreme Court balance in light of Drumpf's charater flaws totally flies in the face of all that they teach. So that should leave only the racist deplorables in his bucket of supporters. Assuming Hillary can knock it out of the park at the next two debates, this race should be all over except for GET OUT THE VOTE!!! I wouldn't be surprised if he decided not to show for the last debate . . . He loves drama!

(63,221 posts)I go on liberal papers like the WaPo, the NYTimes, the UKGuardian and read the comment sections. The number of people in the comment sections defending Trump and ripping Clinton apart is just disgusting. Is this representative of society or is this just a bunch of unemployed trolls that have nothing better to do than to attack liberal comment sections with their hateful invective?
I hope it is the latter, but it really brings me down. I would like to think that decent human beings have better things to do than to troll comment sections all day long.

Those stupid "Trump Won" online polls for the last debate were organized out of a Trump for POTUS site over at reddit.
