2-in-1 post. Instant "Lost Cause" and the Koch/Rove void

We are witnessing an instant implementation of a "Lost Cause" movement amongst the Trumphumpers.

Lost Causes usually take some time after a sudden tragic failure to come into the light. We live in an instant media world and are dealing with a leader/crowd who has the "impulse control of a grease fire", as Bill Mayer observed Friday night.

My simple definition of the "Lost Cause" has two features (correct me if I am wrong):
1. The movement wasn't fully implemented. It would have worked!
2. The leader was right but was let down by his subordinates.

Yesterday the Trumphumpers showed up at the Wisconsin rally to throw fits on behalf of their leader. There is a DU thread about the "faithful" showing up at Trump Tower this morning. They were there to show their allegiance to the leader.

----

The main goal of the Teabaggers movement was the Koch brothers through Karl Rove making a power grab (excuse me) for control of the Republican Party as it dissolved in 2008. It really was done in 2006 but they need the collapse to try to swoop in. If they couldn't gain control they at least could get a seat at the table. This worked in some measure but that was the problem - it was in a measure, it was not complete. Tapping into the anger of the defeated created energy but they didn't give the movement anything to do. There were marches and they supported candidates but after meeting after meeting after meeting eventually the energy weakens. LETS DO SOMETHING!

----

In comes Trump. He prepped the battlefield on their own news networks with Monday morning call ins to Fox N Friends. He then stoked the rabid followers saying what they'd read on fringe websites. He used radical websites to recruit if that sounds familiar. But the key was he GAVE THEM SOMETHING TO DO, his rallies were a perfect place to vent - they had done something. The rallies were really like wrestling matches - anger, rage, good vs bad, with some violence mixed into the soap opera.

Tonight may be the full implementation. His crowd doesn't realize what everyone is trying to tell them - it was never going to work regardless of support from the party or not. Trump doesn't care. There was never a movement. It was all about him. He IS the movement, he is everything.
