For anyone who has paid attention to Donald Trump over the past several decades, and especially during the 2016 presidential campaign, nothing about Grope-gate is surprising. Not the tape. Not the timing of the tape's release. Not Trump's debate denial that he's never groped women without their consent. Not the string of women who have come forward to say he has. Not Trump's misogynist attacks on those women. Not Trump's reaction to the impact it has had on the race. Not my using the cliche moniker 'Grope-gate.'

What would have been surprising is if Trump was ever caught on a 'hot mic' talking in depth about policy positions, on domestic and foreign issues important to the nation, with Billy Bush. Trump has talked about immigration, but never with any depth or detail. Same with the economy, foreign policy, and all the rest. He'll make America great again. How ? By winning again. How? Don't ask. He believes telling people the game plan is stupid.

The Trump train has gone off the tracks with ugly attacks on his accusers that just further confirm he's exactly what his critics have said he is -- undignified, immature, unfit and a misogynist.

In the minds of Trump's supporters, he's still the most viable change agent running for president. In Trump's mind though, he's no longer really running for president. The real estate developer is now only running to build the narrative for the real reason why he'll lose to Hillary Clinton, and it has nothing to do with his own actions. It's because the election is rigged by a vast left wing, right wing, media wing conspiracy that's guided by aliens from Mexico and Mars. "Believe me," as Trump likes to say.
