University of Missouri fraternity accused of teaching pledges to use date rape drugs

COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri officials are investigating a fraternity accused of giving pledges date rape drugs and instructions on how to use them on female students.

A school spokeswoman confirmed to KTVI that Delta Upsilon fraternity, which has already been suspended for possible racial problems, is also being investigated for allegedly serving alcohol to underage students and hazing pledges.

In a letter to the fraternity from the Office for Civil Rights and Title IX Assistant Vice Chancellor, Assistant Vice Provost Ellen Eardley wrote:

“Active members of delta upsilon fraternity allegedly provided each new member with three pills and instructed them to drug women for the purpose of incapacitating them prior to engaging in sexual activity. it has been alleged that new members are required to engage in such conduct in order to complete the initiation process.”

Would be to give them candy smarties (not real drugs) and see which of them are actually okay with the concept of doing it.

(They should of course not actually release the pledges into the population thinking they are holding roofies...it should be done at the beginning of a pledge meeting, then on the way out one "good cop" brother tests them "So you all got your pills? Any questions?" The pledges who have no reservations or questions to the effect of "should we be doing this?" are the ones that fail and are cut.)

If I was a parent of a college age student right now I wouldn't want them going anywhere near these organizations. It's a far cry from Animal House.

University of Missouri frat suspended over reported hazing of student from Glencoe

The Kappa Alpha fraternity already was on probation through the end of the fall semester for a "previous alcohol incident" when the university temporarily suspended it Monday while looking into allegations of hazing a pledge with alcohol, according to university spokesman Christian Basi.

Basi said he could not provide additional details, but in a Kappa Alpha Order incident report, chapter president Jacob Lee wrote that the student had been in a vodka-chugging contest with other pledges.

Lynn and Mike Zingale from Glencoe said the incident involved their 18-year-old son, who she said was hospitalized a week ago and placed into a medication-induced coma for two days to allow the alcohol to leave his system.

She said his blood alcohol content at the time was 0.45 percent, more than five times the legal limit for driving.
