I think I've determined the exact, specific source of my really shitty mood last week, and exactly why I feel better since renouncing all political TV. Here are the 2 things that I really don't need and really can't afford to absorb:
1. The endless pretense of the TV anchors and pundits pretending this is a real race, a real candidacy, and that fRump is a real, viable candidate. I think that was the most emotionally expensive part of it. The "What ifs" of if he became president was really costing me too much. He's not going to be president and so I can't afford to invest any more of myself in the pretense.
Pretense really,really annoys me.
2. Of course, the bickering, the lying, the out-shouting and over-talking, the throwing of feces into the airstream, and the hate and ugliness. Yeah. Can't afford any more of that, either. I just can't hear any more made-up hateful bs. They just make crap up right and left and it lays there, like 3-day-old fish on a dock. In the sun. With flies.
I'll get everything I need here on DU. I may listen to the debate on Sirius because John Fugelsang et all will heckle it live. I'll try that and see how long I last. But it's totally irrellevant at this point. The election's over, and everyone, including Don the con knows it.
Anyway, I stuck to local news this morning and it was fairly nice. I'm settling for fairly nice at this point. That will do it.

I actually don't have a TV, and while I have absolutely no trouble keeping up with political news, current events, and so on, I'm almost completely shut off from celebrity news crap. But more to the point, I'm not listening to those very pundits and anchors you find so distressing.
So, good for you for doing without political TV, even for just three days.

(Though I do wish there were someone of Ellerbee's stature doing a middle of the night newscast.)
