Donald J Trump appreciation thread.

We owe the Orange Anus a big thank you for being the worst major party candidate in the history our country.

He singled handedly sunk the Bush Family's current political ambitions, and any chance of them reviving their credibility in the foreseeable future.

He destroyed any chance Ted Cruz had of becoming POTUS. I believe Cruz was the most dangerous viable candidate to seek the Presidency during my life time.

He completely destroyed the political future of the GOP's brightest rising star, Paul Ryan, using the GOP's own base against it's best hope for 2020.

He poisoned the well regarding the GOP working class base. There is now a huge wedge between the County Club GOP and it's Tea Party base that will be very difficult to overcome, thus easily exploited.

He poisoned the well regarding the ability of the GOP to sell their brand to the rapidly growing Latino population for 2-3 generations. He did such a good job of it, the GOP can no longer rely on a strangle hold it had on Florida's Cuban/American vote. An added bonus was destroying Marco Rubio's dreams of political power.

He handed the election to Hillary Clinton on a Cheeto stained platter.

He tossed in the U.S. Senate, and very possibly the U.S. House on the same platter.

The U.S. Supreme Court will lean left for at least one generation.

There are few Democratic operatives that have accomplished so much, with such ease, then Donald J Trump, and for that, I salute him!

Trump is the spawn of Republican obstinance for the last 8 years. They've been breeding this kind of irrational discontent since "that Kenyan" got elected. They've been say up is down so long that even they can't keep it straight anymore. McConnell, Boehner, Ryan, Ghomert, Pence...asshats like these guys have been incubating Trumpism for almost a decade.

There's this idea that if Trump didn't run we'd see Kasich or Jeb or Rubio at the podium last night. I don't think so. If not Trump - then Walker, Cruz, or Paul...one of the others from the whack job side of the party. And while the dynamics of how might be different against those candidates, I'm confident that HRC would be in a similar position today against any of them.

What McConnell never realized is that all the time he spent trying to burn down BHO's legacy was really just touching his own (along with his party). And part of me believes that BHO took shit for 8 years from these asshats knowing full well that you never take a shovel from an opponent digging his own grave.

On the other hand, it does deprive Americans of a genuine choice between two candidates who differ on policy.

Trump has no "policy", so the choice is between "crazy" and "not crazy".

That's sad but, yeah, you have to hand it to the GOP for trying so hard to lose.

a lot of people who are going to vote for her while holding their nose, so to say, will happily vote for Hillary's second term. I truly think that Hillary will make us who vote for her very very proud.

Hillary has had to put up with some serious SHIT ever since Bill walked into the Arkansas State house. I'd say 99 % of it was exactly what I typed earlier, SHIT. The 'CONs seen this day coming and have tried every thing under the sun to make it not be possible. Hillary Clinton will be our First Woman President and I'm going to help and be proud of my vote for her.

I thought baby shrub would be rammed down our throats at the start of election season, so when gropinfuhrer destroyed him and the other spineless deplorables I was his biggest fan (not really).
Then my glee turned to shock as he became the nominee, and appeared to have a chance at the presidency. What a swing of emotions!

13. "...Cruz was the most dangerous viable candidate to seek the Presidency during my life time."
Thu Oct 20, 2016, 01:02 PM
Oct 2016

Absolutely. It can't be emphasized enough. I have never been so scared in political terms. Your line is virtually word for word what I told my family and friends throughout the primaries.

I refused to watch or closely follow the Republican primaries solely because I was so petrified of Cruz winning the nomination. I viewed him as a male version of Michelle Bachmann, if not worse and more dangerous. After every Republican primary or debate I didn't check or care about anything other than a sigh of relief every time Cruz failed to win a state or rise in the polls. I wasn't posting here or on any political forums because I wanted to pretend Cruz wasn't out there, just like as a Miamian I don't pay attention to storm systems way out in the ocean in the early stages, merely hoping they don't develop or turn elsewhere.

I told my sister not to ask me about the race until Cruz was eliminated. Sure enough, I found out first from her. She sent an email with a caps header, "CRUZ IS OUT!"

As bizarre as Trump is, I don't know how he would have fared as president or what he would have done. I know damn well Ted Cruz would have prioritized everything I don't want to happen in this country. Plus, he would have turned his extreme version of conservatism into more accepted nationwide. Americans want to believe in a new president. The details don't fully matter. Incumbents whose party have been in power only one term enjoy massive benefit of a doubt. Make no mistake, with Hillary's challenged approval rating and low polling upside we faced the very real possibility of two terms of Ted Cruz if Donald Trump and his SAM followers hadn't wonderfully intervened.

This gibberish about how Hillary lucked out to be running against Trump- and we're going to hear a lot of it, I suspect- is bullshit. The American People weren't going to vote for that oily fundamentalist, either.

But - and I hate to give Cruz credit for anything - had he been the nominee this election probably wouldn't have been so ugly.

That matchup would have been very tight.

One demographic after another would have been several percent less favorable.

Cruz is the most dangerous type of Republican, someone who is a wacko but can stand up there and sound reasonable to gullible swing voters.

See, two can play that game.

It's not authoritative when Trump does it, either.

The American people are resoundingly more socially liberal than the beltway punditocracy -usually a good decade at least behind the culture- seem to think they are. That's why marijuana legalization is tearing through the country at an increasingly popular pace, while East Coast conventional wisdom types wring their hands and worry about 2004's mythological "values voters".

Ted Cruz? You fucking kidding me? The guy has all the charisma of a snail with a fungal infection. He's gonna get up there and sell the GOP agenda on outlawing birth control and censoring the naked boobs on HBO and teaching creationism in public schools? Sure. Good luck.

Gone over like a lead fucking balloon, that shit would've.

And by the way, all this crap about what a damaged or weak candidate Hillary is; again, bullshit. Hillary has proven herself to be an EXTREMELY strong candidate, and if we hadn't spent most of the election season focused on the dumpster fire that is Donald Trump, that would have been more apparent, front and center.

however, given especially the performance the past few days, I'm not even sure it's worth it, because what he's doing is bad for Democracy, bad for the Republic.

It's unprecedented, you basically have someone running for election saying elections don't matter unless he gets the result he wants. I think it's way too easy to make Hitler comparisons, generally, but in this case, this dude is a straight up Fascist.

It transcends party.

I can't think of anyone less obviously narcissistic and totally abusive toward anyone he considers subordinate than Trump.

The only way he could redeem himself is by announcing on November 9 that electing Clinton had been his plan all along.

I sincerely doubt that will happen.

The Republicans will try again to inflict Rubio, Cruz, Kasich or Jeb! on us, but at least Hillary will be an incumbent then.
