(115,839 posts)I assumed it was leased, but apparently a Trump company, DJT Operations I LLC, does own it. http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_Results.aspx?NNumbertxt=757AF

(111,339 posts)No matter how YOOOOGE that ego of his is, he's not going to want to announce his presence everywhere he goes. The company might undergo a name change and the new paint job will reflect that.

(115,839 posts)because Trump has configured it to carry only 43 passengers. It also has gold fixtures in the lav. It's really kind of a white elephant.

I'm sure he'd have Air Force One repainted, with plenty of gold leaf. You won't believe how beautiful it will be, believe me.

(50,562 posts)Boeing makes executive transport versions of its airliners; they're called Boeing Business Jets. In theory someone in the market for a plane like a BBJ would be interested in Donald Trump's airliner. The real problem with it isn't all the decorations he's had done to it, but that it was made in 1991. It's one of the oldest 757s still flying, and apparently it shows.
Trump has $100 million in this plane - $20 million for the airframe, $80 million for all the bling he put on it. As old as the plane is, the airframe's probably worth $9 million, and the renovations are worth whatever the new buyer thinks they are - say, $20 million if we're being generous. It'll probably need a D-check soon ("D" is for "disassembly" because that's what they do...in essence, they take your airplane completely apart and inspect every part in it for damage.) and that's a couple million which will come out of the final price. Then count in that Trump isn't the best negotiator in America and he'll probably walk away with $15 to $20 million.
And I'd look for him to part with it regardless of the results of the election. If he wins he won't be able to use it for at least four years, and airplanes really don't do well when they're parked for a long time. He could theoretically put it in revenue service, but he's already failed in the airline industry once and his accountants are probably not real keen on doing it again. (Add to that the ticket prices would have to be outrageous because the only way you'd get fifty people in this crate is to put a seat belt on the commode.) I don't think his kids will use it; you can fly commercial very cheaply these days, and his family seems to have more business sense than Donald does. If he loses there will be a lot of people looking for a lot of money and he'll have to sell everything he can get his tiny hands on to keep them from killing him.
