Single Payer

Repeat that over and over again.

Single

Payer

THAT is the answer.

The issue of single payer is why I got off to a bad start with Obama's presidency.(I have since warmed to him considerably.) He never even tried. He may not have gotten it, but he never tried.

Now is past time.

Single Payer

I'm not sure Hillary will get there either - or if she'll try - but I am cautiously hopeful.

but the Prez knew the repugs wouldn't go for it. He needed to push it through & tweak it later, but the repugs just kept trying to repeal instead of fix, I think 52 times.

Obama was lucky to get what he got with the Republicans and Democrats -- who were afraid of their constituents -- standing in the way.

Too many people are against Single Payer to force it down their throats, even though it is what is best for our country. The only way we are going to get close to Single Payer is to offer a Public Option. If the Public Option is as good as we think/hope, people will gravitate to it pretty quickly.

If so you can put them out of this business.

I don't know why enough people didn't get mad enough years ago. I suspect enough people are satisfied, and don't want change.

The insurance companies are the problem.
They control what a doc can charge and what you have to pay.

In 1993 I went to a local doctor as a new patient. His fee for a regular office visit was $22. Not a copay, that was the total fee. He has since retired. Why now does my PCP have a $50 copay? I'm not making 4-5 times what I was making then. I know he's paying office help with that as well but so did the doc from '93.

Certain services are only provided at certain limited locations. My health insurance costs have more than doubled over between 2008 and 2016.

Why do I have to spend hours on the phone getting covered services "pre-approved" or "authorized"?

I just looked at my options for next year, and there's two companies. The plans for one really suck, the other will greatly increase my out of pocket costs regardless of which plan I take.

My kids qualify for the CHIP in our state, and that's awesome. I'd rather pay my $850 to the state and get on that plan.

What irks me is companies can choose to be a part of the marketplace or not.

Politicans need to frame all these increases as insurance companies doing what they do - increase prices and decrease services while pocketing profits. The price increases have nothing to do with the ACA, Insurance companies have been pulling these shenanigans for decades.

Insurance companies will throw enough money at congress, in the form of campaign contributions and after-congress jobs, that a single-payer bill can't pass.

Congressional corruption prevents Medicare from negotiating good drug costs in Part D. The same corruption will save the useless but profitable role played by insurance companies.
