The last thread posted there was almost a MONTH ago.
Come on.
Let's talk.
We're supposed to be the wise ones.

(2,535 posts)throws me into fits. Not a damn thing Golden about it. Fist, I don't know how long I am going to live so a budget is impossible. I need to keep my search engine so I can figure out my new diseases and ailments. I love my grand kids but I am a cranky old codger and call all of them by the same name including my son. Can't remember my daughter-in-laws name period.
Getting out of bed is pure hell. Sometimes it is easier to roll out. I still smell the ointment I put on my feet a week ago.
I like Jane Fonda but she got the golden thing wrong.

(54,256 posts)Look, I'm 75.
I'm facing facts.
I've already lived most of my life.
By a fairly large margin.
So I consider myself to be a geezer.
A so called 'Senior Citizen'.
Possibly a bit of a curmudgeon, but with a sense of humor.
Definitely a cynic.
Oh yes.

I don't think I was aware of any Senior group.
I'll see if I can find it.

(7,850 posts)I'm older than Hillary is, and I am the woman in the cartoon, voting, who's thinking "Grope THIS."
The only problem with wisdom is nobody listens to you because they all know all there is to know, and will be glad to tell you all about it. So it calls for infinite patience, of which I was born with a deficit.
But with age, many things become clearer: A taco truck on every corner? Great! How about a samosa truck to keep it company?
Michelle Obama for Illinois Senator? Excellent. Wish I lived there.
Barack Obama with his own podcast? Bring it on. I don't think Stewart is coming back.

(80,708 posts)Sorry, it's true.
Example: I posted something about Michael Stipe campaigning for Democrats and it was "WHO????? never heard of him"
And believe me, this sentiment was coming from the peter frampton direction, not the tame impala one.

(80,708 posts)Hell, they added the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the Superbowl lineup 5 years ago to appeal to "older viewers".
So like I said, DU skews pretty far towards boomers, in my experience. It's probably why I like it, because an old Gen X crank like myself still gets lectured and finger wagged like I'm an errant whippersnapper.

(23,340 posts)Shit, I bought a 3-day ticket to Woodstock for $18 .... I can't possibly afford current ticket prices. I saw the Stones for $10, way back when.
Being a geezer myself, I agree with you. I actually feel young around here sometimes. I am also not retired, so I don't have the time to argue incessantly here.
My art school classmates became the Talking Heads. They have been out of business for over 30 years.

I think Stop Making Sense gives The Last Waltz a run for "best concert movie ever"

The concert was better, the best rock concert I have been to. Jaw-dropping.
