(24,461 posts). . . The consumption tax is something that the middle/working/poor will lose and lose BIG on. They spend a greater proportion of their take-home pay vs their cost of living than the wealthy do. Economists worldwide know that the 23% number the LoLibertarian Party cites is going to result in massive shortfalls. The number would have to be more like 30-34% and it's NOT going to be "revenue neutral".
It's simply amazing that anyone making under $300,000 per year even thinks this is a great idea. You're essentially giving the wealthy a tax-free life on the middle/working/poor's backs.
