Billionaire technology investor Peter Thiel, a lightning rod for criticism in Silicon Valley for his support of Donald Trump, predicted on Monday that the movement the Republican presidential nominee has created would carry on even if he loses his bid for the White House on Nov. 8.
No matter what happens in this election, what Trump represents isnt crazy, and its not going away, Thiel said in a speech to reporters at the National Press Club in Washington.
Thiel, who announced earlier this month he was donating $1.25 million to help Trump get elected, said the New York businessman was laying the groundwork for a new Republican Party that will go beyond the dogmas of Reaganism.
Thiel attacked Washington in his remarks, saying its elite insiders were out of touch with ordinary Americans and that Trump was shaking up a system in need of change.

(92,454 posts)As far as I am concerned, they give this asshole too much coverage.
The one disgrace is that too many entrepreneurs who don't subscribe to his insane political beliefs, are too cowardly to express it

(10,401 posts)He was all gaga over it. A real fan. This Classmate is the most class-conscious money-grubber I know. I listened to the whole thing and dismissed it. Thiel may be rich, but didn't come off as terribly wise to the world outside Silicon Valley lala land.... Technology and gadgets mean little to homeless folks starving in the streets...

(9,350 posts)Yes, Peter Thiel the Silicon Valley tech billionaire claims politicians are "elite insiders" "out of touch with ordinary Americans". Oh, and Donald Trump, a born into wealth man who himself benefitted from insider help will truly shake up the system.
Peter Thiel seems to be crazy. I say seems because he is a billionaire, but is only giving Donald Trump $1.25 million. If he really believed Trump would actually change the system he could easily give Trump $20 million-$100 million. Maybe he just likes getting people to do what he tells them to do.
