(1,858 posts)The Florida Sheriffs Association put out a warning for parents for this Halloween, asking them to watch out for marijuana-laced candy. The sheriffs say it could get mixed-in with traditional candy this Halloween.
On their Facebook page, the association said packages that look appealing to children could be distributed with names similar to legitimate products, like Pot-Tarts instead of Pop-Tarts, or Nugella instead of Nutella.
Mondays news conference was hosted by the anti-medical-marijuana group Don't Let Florida Go to Pot. Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings, the president of the Florida Sheriffs Association, presided over the news conference.

Chief Demings censured after gun stolen from her police vehicle
April 10, 2009|By Walter Pacheco, Sentinel Staff Writer
An internal-affairs investigator gave Orlando Police Chief Val Demings a "written censure" as punishment for not properly securing her gun in her car.
Someone broke into Demings' Chevy Tahoe the night of Feb. 27 and stole a duffel bag she had placed on the floor of the vehicle. The bag contained her agency-issued 9 mm Sig Sauer gun, ammunition, handcuffs and baton.
