"Are you canvassing?" she asks

She has followed me out from an apartment complex where I've been knocking doors

I've already been ordered off the premises of one complex this season

So glancing at her, I guess she's the live-in manager and wants to tell me they have a no-solicitation policy

Yes. Am I bothering you?

"Not at all," she says. "I've been making phones to Florida for Hillary"

We chat briefly

I tell her it's nice meeting her. We introduce ourselves and shake hands

My snap judgments are wrong more often than I expect, but I'm always glad to learn not to take myself too seriously

I love talking to folks and hearing what they think. I like to try to explain issues as best as I can. I think it is more meaningful for people to have the face to face conversations. We don't get that so much anymore and I think that is partly why people seem to be kind of mean spirited these days. It is easy to be mean when it is not face to face.

She seemed very concerned. When we told her we were canvasing, she wanted to know for Hillary or Trump.

Her demeanor dramatically improved when we told her we were working for Hillary. Turns out she had voted for Hillary on the first day of early voting! She couldn't stand Donald.
