We would run around outside all day, and maybe do some shoplifting at the local store, or throw rocks at the windows of abandoned houses, or occasionally set a trash can on fire. Those were simpler times when a kid can be a kid

(15,814 posts)In second grade we were taught how to use the encyclopedia. Our house had "World Book", neighbors had "Britannica". We'd check our reports on each other's set of books. That was the closest thing we had to Google. By the time we were in junior high, we were forbidden to cite the encyclopedia in any report; we had been given instruction on the Dewey decimal system and taught how to use "Reader's Guide" and the library's card catalog. The rate of change is speeding up.
I spend a lot of time on the internet, and fully appreciate it. But I still LOVE libraries.

(1,858 posts)I did start a hell of a lot o fires, though. No personal property got damaged. There may or have not been what some people would call a minor forest fire. Starting fires in WoW just isn't the same.
