I didn't contribute a fortune, but I contributed what I could. It's true I needed to do so to get into the site today, but even if that were not the case, I'd have contributed something today. If the events of the past week have taught me anything, I've learned how important the DU community is to help keep me grounded, and I'm sure my experience was not unique. As we head toward a frightening and uncertain future under a new president who's so wholly unqualified, so ill-equipped, so ill-prepared, ill-tempered, incurious, lazy, sexist, racist, homophobic, and on and on and on, it will be far too easy for us to fall into a giant pit of despair. We face a future where all three branches of government will be controlled by right-wing lunatics who care only for their corrupt ideology, self-enrichment, and the disenfranchisement of "the other." Given the difficulties that lie ahead, I'm immensely thankful to have the DU and the DU community back up and running to help me get through this dark period in our country!
