Wherever you live, look around you when you venture

out in public. Depending on your state, every other person you see is likely to support Donald Trump. In a few states, it might just be one out of three, while in others it will be almost two out of three.

They might not look different from other people, but they voted for a racist, misogynistic, gay-hating bigot for President. They think they did exactly the right thing. They think they voted wisely.

Why does that matter? Because we're now in the minority in most states. We're not those things. We stand out, now, because we hold views that have become minority views.

It's frightening, isn't it? We'll, we're going to have to get used to it and find new ways to change people's minds, because if we don't, we'll get more Donald Trumps running things.

Look around at the people you encounter in passing. Can you tell which ones support Trump? Most often you can't.

I'm not big on symbolic gestures. I'd rather try to figure out how to change things the next time around. I'd rather sew a new button on than use a safety pin.

Lots of people who are on our side won't be wearing safety pins.

We tossed out the incumbent Republican for our local State Assembly office, and reinstalled the man he'd tossed out 2 years ago. It was a very sweet victory.

I have a "Anybody but Trump for President" bumper sticker on my back bumper and it's been there for months. No-one has given me any trouble about it.

I know there are Trump supporters here; a rather small, old house a few blocks from mine was sporting a Trump/Pence sign on their front fence. The place did not look prosperous at all. The house dated from the 1950's and was in poor repair.

I'm not too worried. However, I do keep my eyes open when I'm out shopping or whatever.

However, there are still about 4 out of 10 who supported Trump. I encounter them sometimes, too. We have racism, sexism, religionism and other problems here, too.

I wish people had paid attention to that possibility, to tell you the truth.

We can't afford one term of Donald Trump.

And it's not only Trump. It's a republican house and senate to go with him.

I don't even know what to wish for. That the first 2 years are so bad that we win the house and senate in '18, or that he somehow manages to fumble his way through the term without a major catastrophe.
