We just elected a man to the highest office of the land...

For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

-Matthew 7:2

We just elected a man to the highest office of the land who doesn't believe in the rule of law, due process, the sanctity of the ballot box, a free press, freedom of religion, and habeas corpus.

Maybe some of us need to get off our high moral horses.

The main difference between Fidel and Donald beside one was a dictator and one is aspiring to be one is that Donald destroyed or is trying to destroy a liberal democracy, Fidel overthrew an authoritarian dictatorship.

The only thing that separates Donald from Fidel is the Constitution. Let's pray it holds.

Or read, or even comment. That was your choice. That's what freedom and free will is all about. Now pull your head in.

thinking that a reader read widely across the spectrum of ideas.

I've found one of the most effective tools to use against rightwing Christian fundamentalism is the New Testament. A lot of the fundies allow their local pastor to do the heavy lifting on Biblical quotes and simply accept whatever they're told. A large number of fundies have not read the Bible for themselves.

Knowing the text better than they do puts them on their heels in a hurry.

A writer does not have to follow a particular religion or faith tradition to have read its source documents or to be adept in quoting it to advance an idea.
