Are there DU'ers who are not sleeping well at night thinking about things. Would we benefit meeting here when we have these racing thoughts??? feedback please.

(2,955 posts)Some mornings I find it hard to even get out of bed and strive for greater things in life. What's the point when the great orange messiah is gonna set progress back 30-40 years by the time he's done? No checks and balances, and the people he's appointing to our government have views out of the Nixon/Reagan years. We're facing a republican congress, senate, president, hard right wingers in the top government jobs, and a supreme court potentially stacked with hardcore conservatives. Even if Trump gets kicked out in 4 years it's gonna be hard to undo all the damage. If he somehow gets reelected then I'll officially give up faith in this country.

(23,980 posts)... I can remember feeling such a pervasive and unrelenting darkness was when my younger brother, and only sibling, died in 1978, at age 23. It was the first thing on my mind every morning the moment I awoke, haunted me throughout the day, and was the last thing I thought of when I turned the lights out at night. Nothing could make it feel better. After 38 years, the sharp edges have softened, as they must. The damage from from that loss was limited to my immediate family and friends.
Much the same now - nothing can make this feel better. The potential damage likely to result from this election will effect countless millions, and I fear it will take just as long for the pain to soften.
