Would a silent thread for Castro's thousands of victims be considered "counter-revolutionary"?

Heaven knows, I would hate to offend the "More-Righteous-Lefty-Than-Thou" crew; but somehow I just can't get past all of those gay Cubans who were persecuted, imprisoned, or outright murdered by El Senor.
Add to that the countless number of Cubans who, for whatever reason, were willing to risk their lives on what often amounted to no more than random objects of marginal buoyancy to escape Castro's Cuba; and I believe that the notion of a People's Paradise is, at a bare minimum, called into question.

No. But sanctimonious posturing is definitely counter-revolutionary Bucky Nov 2016 #1

or at least some form of revolting.

If you think Castro sucked, just have the courage of your convictions and say Castro sucked. I'd even agree with you.

Castro also had his moments of true greatness. Few can govern once they win the war. He managed, although with unnecessary harshness against many groups.

I'm saddened to see so many light switch mentalities here at DU who think a leader has to be all good to be mourned or all bad to be deplored. The truth is that most throughout history have had mixed legacies.

So either Castro was a great man who sucked or a sucky man who did great things. Both must be acknowledged.

... one will be banned from DU by jurors who know nothing of the topic at hand.

The pathetic abuse by the alerters and jurors has become abusive. This'll probably be my last post on DU.
I've been a DUer since day 2 of DU, sometimes a star member, sometimes not ... have never felt so abused here.

That's all. Don't go. Please don't let anyone chase you from this place.
I've taken my hits at DU. Hell, I believe I've been labeled sanctimonious and lacking convictions in this very thread.
I'll stick around. I hope you decide to do the same.

We're all cranky because of the election result and because DU was down for a couple of weeks. Tempers are frayed and people are joining the Trumpers in wanting to punch something, somebody, anything, anybody.

Take a breather if you have to. Like bad presidents, the present mood at DU won't last.

Cowering behind implication like a grade school student is neither left nor right, revolutionary, nor counter-revolutionary.

A lack of courage in regards to one's own convictions is often the cause, though no doubt, the allegations to the contrary will be as you say, "more righteous."
