I mean I understand why they affiliate with that group because they're racists. However no one ever found it strange, awkward and un-American to have tens of thousands of Nazi sympathizers in America when this country fought against Hitler and millions of Americans were killed or injured? Why is that not considered domestic terrorism? Would we give the same benefit of the doubt to ISIS-sympathizers? Neo-ISIS would NOT be protected in America the way neo-Nazi and other anti-American groups are.

In the US before WWll. A massive rally was held in Madison Sqare Garden in 1939.

Although Roosevelt always saw fascism as a threat, many people here were indifferent or sympathetic. Also recall we did not declare war on Germany until after they declared war on us. Until Hitler made the declaration it was quite possible we would have fought Japan and remained minimally involved in the European theater.

Beyond the reach of Nazi bombers and missiles.

At least 40% of our U.S. white population are fascist, racist, and every other awful ism and religion.

Philip K. Dick saw it. His "The Man in the High Castle" nailed it.

Season One of the Amazon series is pretty good, though not quite the same. I think that last episode of Season One was a good ending, Japanese trade minister sitting on a Gollden Gate Park bench in a different, possibly improved timeline.

wanted to see but never found the time. I will have to make the effort.

Interesting proposal- what if the U.S. was a continental European country?

Compared to 1940 France our military was much weaker. France had a larger, more modern, better equipped force. The U.S. would get a point for much better leadership. Also the U.S. was not still in recovery from war exhaustion.

Now without the illusion of safety would the U.S. been more hawkish and built up its military sooner? Hard to say as France had the faux security of the Maginot yet utterly failed to see the flaws and made no plans to use any strategy beside what resulted in stalemate a quarter century earlier.

I would say if the U.S. had the same land area as France a German victory was assured. If the U.S. had its actual area, it could trade land for time as the Soviet Union did making the end result far more debatable.

That assumes that, without the benefit of history revealing the worst depravity of the Third Reich, the U.S. would not find common cause with Germany's anti-communist rhetoric.

That we brought nazis over here after the war and gave them jobs in science. Also they used them in the fight against communism. The country needed to get them and expose them.
