embraced establishment politics in his job picks for his cabinet and beyond.
When will it dawn on his supporters that he's gone back on his campaign promises and conned them into voting for him at their own peril?

(82,849 posts)It's all about their feelings, and they feel like they won and you-know-who* lost. That's all that matters. They will gladly lose their health care coverage, lower their own wages, watch their roads and schools continue to deteriorate, give up various freedoms for the illusion of security, and more, just so long as they keep feeling like winners.
*"You-know-who" is a moving target, and will be fitted over the villains of the week: Black people (as if their lives matter), poors, liberals, Muslims, nasty women, etc.

(20,845 posts)but plenty of horrible ultra-conservative ideas. His presidency appears to be heading in a direction even more conservative than the established conservative leadership in Washington. He really appears to be the head teaparty air head.
It's pretty clear a majority of his voters voted because they wanted to "win" and not due to policy. Most have no idea what his policies are or the policies of the GOP party as a whole. Most will blame Obama when they fail or hurt them. These are the people that voted for W, and the GOP congress that spent 6 years trying to make their life worse. These are very ignorant people. It will dawn on some. W's popularity plummeted eventually, but most will never blame themselves and their voting habit. In time they'll likely hate Trump with a blinding passion. But they'll line up to vote for the next Trump expecting different results.
