Sasha Obama
grew up~
What a beautiful woman she has become.
There are times that I have studied photographs of her. She appears to have a haunted look on her face more times than I wish to see in one so young. The unprecedented hate spewed by so many people toward all the Obamas. Children are not stupid, they know and feel it no matter how hard her family protected her.
It is going to be incredibly difficult for many in America to say goodbye to them all. We just had eight years of a loving gracious family, something we many not see again for many years. We had an oasis and traded it for hell.
Love and respect to our First Family. You will be missed.

(28,394 posts)In some ways her childhood was stolen from her, even though her parents went above and beyond to make it "normal" for the girls. She is a beautiful young woman. I hope she gets to enjoy the rest of her high school experience out of the public eye.
I found this lovely photo of her. Doesn't she look a lot like Michelle?
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)her life, Femmocrat, and she has had the blessing of a pair of wonderfully intelligent, balanced and decent parents, as well as a sister to share it with. Fun people too! Chelsea grew up nicely in spite of millions spewing hate, also with a good set of parents, but no sister.
Personally, I also don't think being protected from today's typical adolescent experiences is all that much of a deprivation. More like a blessing. It's a very rackety, vulnerable and dangerous time of life, and we live in times of such rampant change that society has lost many of its traditional notions and controls of decency, with no time to replace them.
Here's a smiling picture, though suggesting perhaps teen years sadly devoid of long hours spent hiding from parents in the basement.

(14,025 posts)quite correct: she has grown up right so quickly. And we will look back so longingly on these eight years.

(24,618 posts)and mature into beautiful and gracious young women. Both girls have endured far worse than we can imagine living in that fish bowl, but they appear to handle it well. I am sure both parents as well as Grandmother Robinson have kept them on a even keel. I hope they are left alone by the press now so that their college years are not in public view.
We will miss them as much as their parents since they seem like such a part of our life. Bo and Sunny too!!
Thanks, sheshe. You do so many wonderful threads.

that day I will get one of my rare, "get my drink on" things and watch and possibly, probably be an unwilling recipient of the shit hitting the fan for the next 4 years while watching my senior benefits slowly go down the drain into the pockets of the ryans, bluedogs? maybe they will be forced to wake up???, and definitely WallStreet money dogs. What a fusttercluck!!!!!!! Just thinking that a good luck is in order for the proposed "march" against being a citizen of trumpistan. Wear a hard hat if you can find one, in fact all should.

The Obamas seem entranced as they listen to @thelumineers sing "Blue Christmas" at tree lighting.
