The issue is not the popular vote results, but the fact that Trump, Republicans, and others on the right have a wanton contempt of, and disregard for, the Constitution and its case law, the rule of law, and the protected liberties of all Americans.
Indeed, it was the original understanding and intent of the Framing Generation that the people be subject solely to the rule of law, not men their rights safeguarded from the capricious will of the people by the Constitution, its case law, and the rule of law.
Therefore, that the likes of Trump might be elected president should be of little consequence.
In theory, consistent with our Constitutional Republic, women, gay Americans, and Muslims neednt fear a Republican president, or a Congress controlled by the GOP, because their rights are immune from attack by the state.
Unfortunately, thats not the case.
The reprehensible right will attempt through judicial appointments to undermine those Constitutional safeguards, jeopardizing the privacy rights of women, the equal protection rights of gay Americans, and the First Amendment rights of Muslims.
This was not the Framers intent, the hateful rightist agenda is contrary to the most fundamental tenets of our Republic, and it is not who we are as a people.
