Every week or two he would do a column entitled "Things I learned on my way to looking up other things". It was some random esoteric opinion piece. That whole concept is lost in a post-google world where we extract data to support our conclusions, instead of creating new learnings/conclusions from unexpected data.

oh well...at least we're still #26 (or there abouts) in the global education ranking.

It is yellowed and old, maybe 35 years old..I cut it out back then. and the title of it is..Time lost can never be regained--not for love or money.

Basically he said the use of time is one of the most important concepts there is. He goes on to say that.."Time is love"..so, if we spent time with good friends and our children, we are really saying that we care very deeply about them. Towards the end of that column he says this..Time is love above all else. It is the most precious commodity in the world, and should be lavished on those we care most about."..

I really think that this one would make sense today, as it made 35 years ago..(well, you got to have some kind of mind to understand it...but many here certainly would..and I do think that many more would realize the truth in those two sentences..)

He had a lot of great stuff that would easily survive the test of time. I'm not sure why he didn't get the same visibility as a Molly Ivins. I love her too but I think he was a little more muted and elegant - she had that edge that made news.

Either way, your point about time make a lot of sense today, maybe more so than when he wrote it.
