Perhaps I am just paranoid?
But, is there something down in your gut that says, that something just isn't right with this election? Your ideal of government is much the higher plane than the Republican billionaire.
No matter if you try to escape by attributing it to paranoia or some psycho-matter, it is still there. That feeling in your gut that tells you that we must not follow this new President-elect? You have seen the lies, the deceit, the lack of empathy, and other sub-human acts and there is simply no way it can be accepted. He is going to lead our nation into a very dark place.
Does anyone else have similar feelings?

(1,182 posts)My wife and I shook our heads when W got "elected" the first time. We said to ourselves, "But how much harm can that moron do?" Boy were we wrong. Now they have replaced an empty suit with a pustule from Planet Billionaire. That group is a bunch of leeches sucking the lifeblood out of every last one of us.
The fossil fuel industry is in full attack mode now, brazenly attempting to run the whole show. Nature be damned!
We can only hope the Trumpster fire will be so bad that the rest of the world imposes economic sanctions on us. And that might be the best case scenario.
I guess it is about time that the last remaining "super power" got knocked off its perch. Doomed by our own hubris (aka "American Exceptionalism" , and our lack of humility toward history, and the natural world.

I just keep hoping the Constitution and the frame work will stand.
I have no problem with any criticism. The repubs showed us that this is fine, with the way they treated Obama so there is nothing they can say when we say anything.
Another gut feeling i have is that he is going to do something that is going to cause him great trouble before it hurts all of us. But then I don't like who will take his spot! I don't think this is just wishful thinking. He is too selfish and careless. Something will happen. Hopefully soon!

(13,421 posts)That'd be the famous statement made in a lot of war movies just before the platoon gets shot to shit and a bunch of them die. I hated dubya with a passion, and stupid as he was (is), he didn't scare me as much as tRump does. He's arrogant and willfully ignorant along with being morally and ethically bankrupt. Ain't no way this one ends well.
I got a bad feeling about this one, Sarge.

http://www.thelocal.de/20161116/merkel-to-be-the-new-leader-of-the-free-world
Merkel, after 11 years at the helm, now looks increasingly like the only bulwark of stability and liberal freedom among Western allies.
"Merkel... has suddenly become the most important leader of the free, democratic and liberal world," said the left-leaning TAZ daily.
The historian and columnist Timothy Garton Ash agreed in an editorial for Britain's Guardian newspaper: "I'm tempted to say that the leader of the free world is now Angela Merkel."

(20,587 posts)try to find an area of your community where you can help out - it doesn't even have to be about politics. Do they need volunteers at a local animal shelter? food bank? boys & girls club?
The government is locked up for now but there are ways to make things better, especially for those who will be hardest hit.
I think something many of us are starting to realize is how patriotic we really are and how much we love the ideals this country stands for. Some of us are in mourning for that loss right now and it sounds like you are too. The thing is though, we can't just give up and hand it over to them.

(20,587 posts)Pandora's box was opened and out came the idiots who will threaten anyone who speaks against trump, along with their white supremacist friends. He has already shown that he has no integrity and is using his position for personal gain. He has shown that he uses his position to punish, individuals, states, and politicians.
The problem is we have already seen the beginning of our country's decline and we know there is nothing to stop it - media least of all.

(68,867 posts)I've been trying to adjust to the fact that we will be living in a reality TV show starring the banana republic! That's not an easy thing And certainly the last thing I want to do is argue with the folks that are pretty much on my same wavelength, when there's folks out there who would destroy it all! It appears that a lot of DU now is about arguing the primary argument all over again While Rome is burning! I would suggest that we get our act together, and start building on what we need to do to gain back some control in 2018. But for now we have to wait to see what the tramp will do in the next several months As that will give us our map on 2018! 2020 is a census year, so if we don't get serious by then, we're all out probably forever!

(2,073 posts)Fearful people... do nothing. They say nothing. Fuck them and their stupidity. Fuck them with a rusty railroad spike. Don't allow them to lead you anywhere. Question and criticize at every turn.
The best remedy for fear is meaningful action.
Get out there and DO something. There are Democratic clubs in or near almost every town. Join. Run for local office. And if you can't run, support your local candidates.
DO something.
