...and over the line.
I got over his stupid copyright infringing right wing duck. I'm able to put his caricature of Hillary that made her appear as a Japanese stereotype in my past. I also accept that he runs on an annoying four week lead time making his content stale, but comparing widespread alt-right violence with a couple protests weeks ago is despicable.
I can see such bullshit on the internet, but this is syndicated.

(7,723 posts)I think only one time did I even find it amusing in all the years I've looked at it.

(11,804 posts)But I think he ran out of good ideas and then having achieved some notoriety by being the "conservative" cartoonist kind of went in that direction more and more. This happens to a lot of issue driven cartoonists actually - either because their issues become more important than the humor or because they know that that's safe ground.
In fairness I think coming up with something funny every day for years on end has to be exhausting. But it doesn't change the fact that Mallard Fillmore hasn't been funny in a long time; and this strip is just obnoxious in it's stupidity and lack of humor.

(11,804 posts)If he were a better and funnier cartoonist he'd be rewarded for being a funny cartoonist. Since he's not, he has to seek his reward from his fellow conservative cranks, by being just as conservative and cranky as they are. So he's getting his reward (both paycheck and emotional support) from the cranks who tell him what a great guy he is sticking it to liberals.
Once you are reliant on something other than your work or your art than the temptation to just become a hack is everpresent, and I think he passed that stage a long time ago.
