Doesn't that make your heart sing?!
It's one little ray of hope in the winter of our discontent!

(131,107 posts)I contributed to Joe years ago, and might do so again. I would like to see a combo: E. Warren/Sen. Sanders/Joe B, a TROIKA!!!
guillaumeb
(42,641 posts)That would be an excellent line up indeed.

(54,067 posts)But yes, compare to these ages of incoming elected Dem presidents to our three leading contenders, Clinton, Sanders, and Biden.
55 - Woodrow Wilson
50 - Franklin Roosevelt
43 - John Kennedy
52 - Jimmy Carter
46 - Bill Clinton
47 - Barack Obama
Of course if we really wanted to buck the trend, we'd nominate Jerry Brown. He'll be 82 and fit as a fiddle.

(42,641 posts)My feeling is that Biden would carry the baggage of the DLC label and both parties need an infusion of ideas.
Personally I would prefer Warren of all of the prominent Democrats.

anyway, it's too soon to speculate - a lot will change in the next 4 years, and we need to focus on 2018 (which looks very difficult even without the inevitable terrorist attacks and consequent invasions of 2017)

(2,344 posts)Joe should run! He is exactly the personality we need. Young Julian Castro for VP! Oh and he looks ten years younger than Trump!

(2,344 posts)He never stopped working for our country and believing in us. It could be that Obama is encouraging him. Joe has a combination of intelligence political savvy charisma and experience that's very hard to find. If he teamed up with a young Democrat I think it would be a great ticket.

(2,957 posts)He'd be freaking 82 or something by then. We need FRESH BLOOD and FRESH IDEAS running the country.

(5,326 posts)he just wants to remain relevant in the next few years and not simply just ride away in the sunset.
He still has very much to contribute but I seriously doubt another presidential run is in his future.

(30,481 posts)As much as I love Joe he is a bit to conservative for my tastes. What most of us love about Joe is not his ideology. That said, I do agree with him on the ideological spectrum more often than not.
The field would have to be pretty bad for me to vote for him in the primary.

(31,464 posts)How about some new blood and fresh ideas? I'm 57...I don't ask my mom for advice on the latest fashions, new music, politics. Can we please focus on turning this Titanic of a party before we completely sink ourselves?

I'm 68 myself, and I'm genuinely horrified that people keep on looking backward for potential candidates, not forward.
