If the Don promises them behind closed doors for the SS cuts they want, which he has said he'll leave alone, scrapping the ACA entirely, signing the TPP, etc. in other words start acting like the GOP stooge every other Republican President would have....

then they will stop making such a "big deal" out of this, and drop the bi from bi-partisanship.

There will be hearings.

Nothing will be done.

The Dictator will be sworn in and this country will never be the same.

The majority of our politicians are responsible for what is happening.

They passed the laws that allowed the banks and corporations to rape

the wealth of this country.

They sent our soldiers to war for oil.

They allowed the news to become reality TV.

When that whole debacle started, I said to myself, " hmmm, well ... at least gas will be cheaper...".

Fool that I was.

All those dead kids, most from those poorer red states who voted the Chimp into office in the first place.

Inadvertently voted to have their children exterminated and they've now voted for their own demise as well as ours.

Sure glad I'm old now.

I've had a really great life but I fear for our kids and grand-babies - as so many of us here do.

big pharma, big oil, and Wall Street bankers spent decades propagandizing the American people through Fox-News and hate-talk radio. The now ignorant, brainwashed public elected the buffoon Donald Trump as our president.

So, we now say a sad BOHICA to the American people, everyday people trying to make their living.

I think the bigger news is that Rubio has joined in the calls. He's still someone considered to have a political future (he also outperformed Trump by a wide margin) and I think that can be taken as a sign that Republicans are getting pretty serious. If a few more join in, then Trump is suddenly in a world of trouble.

Big question is ... if the Senate GOP goes, will the House GOP follow?

hacking the GOP that might be used as blackmail. I assume no one in the GOP has the range of choice that would lead them to undermine Trump without a VERY persuasive and inarguable chain of evidence. You have to sell it in to the folks back home, come re-election time, that you brought down THEIR choice for President.

Donny already has 1/2 the press back-pedaling on this one.

Don't assume they cannot block what they do not wish to hear in public even now. McConnell is only 1 senator out of 100 and he got the whole thing hidden until AFTER it would have done the most damage.

Trump's Financials are still hidden from anyone who voted, yet they depend on the favors of a foreign power.
Ask yourself if that isn't an example of the same dynamic?

They don't have to extort ALL of congress, just the ones who steer the others. The press seems willing enough to buy ANY explanation as demonstrated by their treatment of Trump and the other GOP candidates.

One is progressive values, and Rubio gets us nowhere. But the other is the stability of our democracy. Can a demagogue take over the country and be unopposed by the Republicans? Losing that second battle could mean no chance for the first battle over the long term. We could be destroyed.

Sen Sasse - Also a never Trumper
Sen Collins - Rumored to want to be Governor of Maine in 2018
Orrin Hatch - Remote possibility. But he is retiring. He has nothing to lose or gain at this point
Sen Portman - Part of the Kasich Club. I think if he thought he could make it happen, he'd be promoting Kasich right now and loudly

41. The Russian People Versus The Russian Government
Tue Dec 13, 2016, 01:32 AM
Dec 2016

I have seen some confusion over this even amongst more Liberal news figures, and I think that this is an important point to make- The Russian People are not our enemies, and they never were. It was the Communist Government that oppressed the Russian People and which was our enemy during the Cold War. The Russian People themselves were oppressed by the Communist System. Once that System was overthrown, it was hoped that the Russian People would get the only legitimate form of Government, which is a Constitutional Democracy.

Instead, what happened is that Russia was taken over by Oligarchs who are now under control of the Authoritarian Strong Man, Vladimir Putin. I point this out again because the Russian People deserve a Democracy, just like every other People and every other Nation. I have known a number of Russian People through my University, and they are all good people who desire a real Democracy in their own Homeland, and instead have Putin and his Cronies. So, our mutual enemy is Putin and his Thugs. Our allies there are all the Russian People who thirst for real democracy. The Russian People must be held separate from the Authoritarian Government that oppresses them and thus prevents real Freedom in that Country.

So, in sum, the Authoritarian Russian Government is our enemy, but the Russian People are not. The Russian People themselves suffer under Putin's Regime. That is why Trump likes Putin so much. It is because they are so alike. Both are narcissists see themselves as Authoritarian Strong Men with contempt for Democracy and real Freedom. It is important to make this distinction, because we should be working to help make Russia a Democracy by fighting Putin's Regime. We also must fight the anti-democratic Trump Regime at home as well. Russians who oppose Putin are natural allies to anyone who loves real freedom, and we should not write off an entire Nation that is suffering under the Putin Regime. So, Trump likes Putin, but I am sure he is dismissive of the Russian People who desire real democracy.
