My last thread of this morning. I saw a meme from an alt-right twitter page right fucking here

There are posters here who are trying to divide us. Who sends them? I don't know.

How did I find the twitter page? At Trump's twitter page of course. I just followed the tweets.

Some clown here posted a TIME cover that suggested we engineered Yeltsin's victory in Russia and therefore it was ok Putin engineered Trump's victory. I saw the same cover, same meme on some Alt Right's guy twitter page.

Jump on this or that false bandwagon is an easy sell when people want to believe stuff.

Let's all remember, we are the majority party and we are being cheated every damn day until we regain our right to vote and have our votes count.

Will we reach a 3 million vote victory this week? We hit 2.83 million of Friday.

8. I am not sure how THAT divides us

I mean, we are already divided, always have been, and hopefully always will be.

To me what is divisive is not so much a variety of opinions, but this notion that - to have "some" opinions makes you one of the "enemy". We are divided when we change the debate from

arguments that X is true
arguments that X is not true

to

arguments that X is true
arguments that you are a heretic (troll) for saying that X is true.

(Of course as replies become ever more twitter-like, you do not really get "arguments" just one line of snark.)

Yes, I will concede that on some issues the idea that X is true may be a) a position believed by a minority of Democrats and b) a position believed by a majority of Republicans.

But so what? In the first place, my party does not have a monopoly on truth and in the second place my party has a diversity of opinions. See above, the position is believed by SOME Democrats, a minority of them, but NOT a minority of ZERO.

I just will never support the position that says - X is true and there are NO decent people who believe that X is not true. Not even when I am quite certain that X really IS true.

You would agree that no decent person can deny the Holocaust.

How could I, since, after all, I am somebody who denies the so-called "American holocaust"?

I would say that there are some Holocaust deniers who are Nazi-sympathizers and thereby are NOT decent people, so there is some overlap and to express that opinion would seem to increase the odds that a person is in that group.

But to me, the mere opinion does not prove anything, it does not actually DO anything, and the decency of a person depends on what they do, not on what they think, especially what they think about past events. To deny the Holocaust, to me, is a little bit like denying the moon landing, or being a flat earther (unless, as I said, the Holocaust denial is part of an active Nazi life). It is goofy and wrong, but, by itself, does not make somebody a bad person.

It also seems to me that most people believe in the Holocaust for the same reason that kids believe in Santa Claus - because they've been told it happened by adults in authority and they accept it on faith. Basically the mantra is "a text book says it, I believe it, that settles it." Well, in my research on the "American Holocaust" I have found a lot of things written in books that are more propaganda than truth.

racists, white supremacists, hate groups, neo-Nazis... whatever variety of hate group... let's just call them what they actually are and not turn into some generic term.
