Our Esteemed President: Judge orders Trump sit for 7-hour deposition in early January

(CNN)Before President-elect Donald Trump heads to the White House on January 20, he will find himself back in the witness chair for questioning in his ongoing contractual dispute with celebrity chef, Jose Andres.

DC Superior Court Judge Jennifer A. Di Toro ruled Wednesday that Trump must sit for a deposition in New York City the first week of January, and it may last up to seven hours.
Trump sued Andres for breach of contract after Andres backed out of a plan for a restaurant in Trump's new luxury hotel in Washington. Andres claimed he canceled plans for the project after Trump made disparaging remarks about Mexicans during the presidential campaign.

Trump's attorneys previously agreed to his deposition in New York City, but sought to limit the length and scope of questioning, arguing in court filings that "Mr. Trump is not just any apex deponent; he is the President-elect ... It is not an overstatement that he is extremely busy handling matters of very significant public importance."

Yet somehow he has time almost every day for a rally on his pathetic, ego-stroking "thank you tour." What is the "very significant public importance" of his Nuremberg rallies?

Something he's not used to when he sues. It's bound to make him testy over the whole thing.

He's going to have his back against the wall during all the legal stuff he'll be facing in the months ahead. I've read here how he's involved in about 75 cases. Sounds like his opposition in these cases might be in the catbird seat. Especially since he settled the university business to avoid a mess.

Too bad Shakespeare isn't around to write about this guy. Or maybe someone more contemporary - Pinter. I'm not too knowledgeable about playwrights. But Pinter would capture the starkly surreal quality of all this. Whittle it down to the essential.

He could drop it at any time, and as a lawyer you know, however he would be on the hook for the plaintiff's legal fees.

It was that witch hunt that led SCOTUS to rule that the president can be sued while in office for things done before they became president, and be forced to testify while in office.

Granted he isn't in office yet -- but he still has 75 lawsuits pending.

into dropping charges?

I generally know about these things, but I've been in a funk (imagine that) for -- hmm---maybe slightly more than a month?

There have so many huge scandals (any one of which would have brought any other president DOWN) that it's impossible to keep them straight, as it's daily. . .
