"Eigen" and "Proper"...
In physics and the theory of relativity there is something called "proper" time. This is the time for each object in its state of motion and with the effect of its own or other gravity on it. I had a friend who asked me "what time is it on Jupiter?" to which I responded "what time is it on the spaceship traveling to Jupiter?" A traveler moving at, say, 0.9 times the speed of light will have their clock tick slower than the person taking a nap on Earth.
The term "proper" time is different in German: Einstein et al used the term "Eigenzeit", which means "[your] own time" ("Eigen" being "own" and "Zeit" being "time"
. Each object experiences its own time according to the state it is in. This is actually a much more accurate descriptor than "proper" time.
The same could be applied to politics: We are in an era where a whole section of the country is living with their own "Eigennachrichten", or "eigen news", or "own news". These people are experience facts, and news, in their own personal space in the universe, and their experience of news is affected by their own state of motion and/or the forces that surround them.
So I make a proposal: Instead of calling them "Alt", why not call them "Eigen", like "Eigen-Rechts" ("Rechts" being "right" . Or we can re-translate from physics in German back into English: the Proper-Right? The Proper-Republicans? Proper-Republicans living in their own Proper-News?
Here we are, it is revealed: We are dealing with Proper Republicans!
