A light in the darkness:Senator Elizabeth Warren

Elizabeth Warren ‏@SenWarren 38m38 minutes ago
.@SenatorCardin, @ChrisCoons, @SenatorDurbin, @SenJeffMerkley & I will introduce a bill in January to implement the Emoluments Clause.

Got this on my twitter. Goes nowhere? She's going to fight donnyputin!

https://www.propublica.org/article/emoluments-clause-overturning-185-years-of-precedent-let-trump-off-the-hook

"If Trump, in his announcement originally scheduled for Dec. 15, does not sell his businesses altogether, or retains a residual interest in the revenues those businesses receive from foreign governments and foreign government entities, the debate between those who may decide to agree with Tillman and those who disagree could come quickly to the fore. Congress seems very unlikely to consent to a complex set of Trump business deals with foreign powers and their affiliates — especially as Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns makes it almost impossible to understand the scope of these relationships.

The new president would then face a choice about whether to declare himself the first chief executive in at least 185 years, and perhaps the first in our history, exempt from this provision of our Constitution. The alternative could be to subject himself to possible impeachment."

Hopeless? Don't know but at least a WOMAN is fighting back

But hey I like to fight fascists. It's in my blood. I don't care for surrender. We elected these people on our side. This is their frigging one job.

... it's that our political culture needs a sledgehammer taken to it. I think it's possible that in a decade, we may see both parties split as divisions within them become more polarized. We may become like a lot of European and Asian countries where parties are divided into far-left, center-left, center-right and far-right. We have each of those now spread across smaller third parties ... but with the onset of Trump and Bernie, there is definitely internal fractures within both parties.

Now I said that the break is possible, not inevitable, or even likely. But there is a fracture we need to keep an eye on.

Or Senators Coons, Cardin, or Merkeley?

Why is that when Warren says the same thing or attaches her name to a piece of legislation that others have co-written or co-sponsored, we get 20 threads extolling her virtues, while the others get bupkus? And then all the threads about bad Democrats (except Liz and Bernie).

And don't even get me started about Bernie. If he passes gas it makes news here. Or when he says things that we have all been saying for a year, such as Trump is a liar, there are 30 posts about it, as if he has just revealed deep truths we could never have imagined. This ain't the Sermon on the Mount, ya know.

I'm getting pretty bored with the (undeserved) idol worship here.

And a really good guy. I was under the impression this was Warren's bill. (I understand they have to have co-signers) I briefly looked at his twitter and didn't see mention of it? Warren has been STRONG in her Trump condemnation. I don't see that from others in terms of language. And to me language matters. We can't afford to tip toe around. And as a women after how Hillary was treated-a woman senator DOES matter more to me. Sorry for my identity politics getting in the way but that's how I feel.

Thus far. It's not "hers" alone.

And it has little chance of being brought to a vote in a Republican Senate. But we can always hope.

Ruining my day as usual. I mean I respond to people's stuff and this is all I get for posting. Whatever. I am really bummed out. And doesn't one person introduce the bill? I guess she's just a piece of shit like everybody else. Why even try? Tears. Fuck it all My husband says people on line are just here to argue with you and make you feel like shit. Which is what happened. Says it's pointless. My five seconds of hope since scumbag. Again whatever DU whatever
